Koba was born in the San Bruno Primate Shelter and had always been a strong and cunning ape. He had witnessed the cruelty of the keepers towards his fellow apes and had always been determined to protect them. When Caesar arrived at the shelter, Koba saw him as a leader and someone who could help them rise against the keepers. Koba had always been wary of the humans, but Caesar's presence gave him hope that they could one day be free from their oppressors.
